President Benigno S. Aquino III conferred on Monday, 10 February, the Presidential Award of Excellence to five licensed overseas recruitment companies held at the Rizal Hall of Malacañang Place in Manila.

Labor and Employment Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz said that this Presidential Award of Excellence is the highest honor bestowed upon a licensed overseas recruitment agency in a three-tiered reward system for private recruitment agencies that exemplify the highest standards of ethical recruitment and deployment of Filipino workers for overseas employment.

The Presidential Award of Excellence is bestowed an agency that has been a recipient of the Award of Excellence at least five times.

International Skill Development, Inc. garnered its 5th consecutive Award of Excellence leading to the highest award an agency could receive, the Presidential Award, from the Department of Labor and Employment, Philippine Overseas Employment Administration this coming bi-annual review and assessment of the industry's entire recruitment agencies performance.

Initially conceptualized in 1984, the agency performance award has been an annual activity of the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration, to honor the exceptional performance of licensed agencies in the overseas recruitment industry.

The evaluation of performance for the Top Performer Award and Award of Excellence, covering the period July 1997 to June 1998 considered the agencies volume of deployment, track record of recruitment violation and welfare cases, technical capability, foreign exchange earnings, welfare and allied services maintained. Candidates for Award of Excellence were afforded higher premium on maintenance of high deployment record since they have already proven their worth, having been Top Performer Awardee for three years.
